need distributor advce

i have a 68 327/400trans stock with a holley 600.the po put an hei dist. in it. my truck started running rough so I started fishing around under the hood. cap and rotor were trashed, I pulled up on the rotor and the shaft moved up and down about 1/4 od an inch. Thr centrifical advance weights are almost ready to fall off. Anyway heres my question. stock hei or aftermarket dist???

It kind of depends on how you drive your truck and how you want the engine to look.

I like GM style Hei myself. One reason is if anything happens on a trip parts are readily available.

A stock H.E.I. is about $150. I don't think you'll need much more to get you going again. Make sure you buy a name you recognize and toss it in. If you wanna dial it in better once its running good again update this thread and we'll sort you out.

I put a stock HEI in my '72 several years ago. No problems. That's what I'd recommend.
