You promised yourself no more projects, but ...

Is there something that would make you go back on your promise to yourself?

It took me forever to stop collecting and finally getting rid of everything except one truck … NO MORE!

But I think if I found a smoking deal on a 71-72 3/4 ton two wheel drive V8 4sp truck I might pull the trigger … Ugh, whats wrong with me?

What would make you go back on your word to yourself? Or maybe you haven't gotten to the point where you have made that deal LOL!

Apparently you think you can cure the addiction yourself (??) I suggest a call to your local Projects Anonymous chapter

Wish I had that kind of self control. That would have brought me 12 more projects!

I am fighting the urge to buy a project now. I sold my 37 coupe and my 70 c10 stepper this year and vowed no more old cars for me. Bought two SSR's that I love. Decided to look at c10 on facebook marketplace and found a interesting stepper project in Ky. We will see.

You live in what I call the truck rich Tri-States of Idaho, Washington and Oregon and you like a truck in New Jersey that would would probably cost 2/3000. to get home to Washington State no matter how you decided to transport it. As been said I think " Projects Anonymous" 12 Stepper Program is best for you. Sounds like the decision was made for you with the sale.

Re: You promised yourself no more projects, but ...

I sold my 72 back on October 30. My wife’s dad asked her where I find all the trucks I’ve bought. She said and I’m not making this up. “He’s on this truck support group site on the internet”. After she said that she told me she meant to say truck site.
She also told him that I’d have another truck in a week.
I’ve been looking at 65 long bed on Craigslist in KC.
I’d like to find a 67-72 4x4 longbed that I could put the camper shell I bought about a week ago. Yep I bought a camper shell and no truck to put it on. When I had the 72 I couldn’t find one that I liked. Well I found one I like, maybe I’ll find another truck.

It’s a white aluminum topper. It was on this truck.
That truck is too nice for me.
I’d be afraid to drive it.
Thanks for posting that truck.

"Truck Support Group"?

Yeah, we all support each other buying more trucks.

I don't ever sell anything these days, but I have been thinking about a K20 for a month now. I don't "need" it but I sure "want" it.

Yup. I’ve done the same.
I’ve got so many parts to do an up grade on a truck that I don’t even have.
My 70 C-10 is set up the way I want it, with me adding the stuff that it didn’t come from the Factory with (PS,PB, and Tilt column), but I started collecting stuff for the C-30 that I was going to find, somewhere.
My intentions were to have both trucks with the same Colors.
Well, I went a different route and bought a newer C-30, that I didn’t have to build.
Now I’ve got three or four truck boxes of parts I don’t need.....yet.
BTW, I’m always looking, and if the “Right Truck” presents itself, I’ll have a place for my parts

Either way I like the support group.

I just bough a short bed 65 service body truck that was a BellSouth special paint truck and added it to the Truck Farm to be built one day on United By Trucks on YouTube . We have many others waiting in line .

I wouldn't know. I've never made that promise. I know I just used the word in my last sentence, because it worked, but one creedo I have lived my life by is "Never say never".

I had to let my collected gems go due to the Great Recession coupled with a divorce, save a '67 SWB project and the '72 K2500. I was good with that if that was the final word on my older truck owning. I have the first and last year, 2wd & 4wd, long & short all covered. I am still too broke to pick up any other projects, but am looking forward to the day I can, if it ever comes. I have many older GM Truck dreams as well as the desire for other makes. I went with GM trucks years ago for being the most practical for actual use. But now that the vehicles I love have become more cherished special interest vehicles, I'd like to get back to the more obscure I began my vehicle interests with. Reasonably priced projects are hard to come by with interest being so widespread these days, combined with them all been so much older. So, not so sure I can ever afford more, but I really want a Studebaker pickup. I also want a Chevy or GMC from '37-'40. I won't give up hope. If it happens it happens

-or - remember that straight six three on the tree 69 GMC stepside that was on craigslist in Florida, right before the hurricane hit?

I had a hard time fending that one off.

Re: You promised yourself no more projects, but ...

I decided a few years ago to get rid of all the old cars and keep the truck. Sold a '70 Cutlass and a '46 Ford. The truck made sense. I have been focusing on it and have everything working as it should and now I am starting body and paint. My wife is the one that keeps pointing out old Chevy trucks and says "You should get another project." Trying to resist but she makes it very hard.

Yup, I did that for 40 years. Couldn't pass up an old abandoned tractor sitting in a field or under a tree. Probably restored 30 of them. Got sick 2 years ago and had to sell all of them. Made the promise then, which I will keep. Turn the page and work on something else (motorcycles, trucks, cars, firearms).

Old Corvettes, then a '55 Nomad, and most recently a '72 Jimmy, and a '72 stepside (both 4x4).

I definitely do have the sickness bad!
