I want one of these...

I can no long deny this urge.Everytime I see one of these I just feel something. It may not make sense or seam to have a practicle use,but I just have to face it.I`ve always, like most guys, had a thing for big rigs. They`ve always been there and it would be neat to need one so you could do one up the way you like.I see guys collecting vintage big trucks and think I`d like that if I had a place to keep it.I`ve been tempted to buy some I`ve seen over time. One I remember is a long frame Needlenose`61 Peterbuilt tractor with an added single sleeper.I was thinking to put a dump bed on it.
But,these trucks right here...I think are perfect for me,or anyone else,to cover a couple areas of likes,Big Rigs and 67-72s.Kind of like when it hit me how cool a Harley Servicar would be to have to cover the Bike and Pickup interests,or an El Camino SS396 to cover the Muscle Car and Pickup interests.
What do you all think?

...other than too small. Can anyone help this?duh?

yup, know what ya mean. I used to be an over-the-road trucker for about 12 years. Once it gets in your blood, it's there forever. I'm kinda partial to the KW's, guess cause I had two of 'em. I like the W900L's best. This yellow KW is one of my favorites. And, here's a nice needlenose Pete for ya.

Re: I want one of these...

Im going to do one in the next 5 years.......As old as I can find. I dont know what I want yet but I have been researching it.

Remember guys....CDL to drive it!!!! Class B with air brakes to drive the tractor and if you put a trailer on it of just about any size....Class A................

Unless you reclassify it to 26,000 or below some how.

Were these taken at Carlislie? Did you guys (that went to Carlislie) see the truck and trailer that had the murals on it?

Just one of the exhibits (1954 Kenworth)atThe golden Age of Trucking Museum in Middlebury, Connecticut.

Of course there's a cure for this urge- It can cost over $1,000.00 to fill the tank! A cheaper alternative is Big Rigs: The Complete History of the American Semi Truck by Stan Holtzman, isbn 089658495X.

I compromised by installling a set of West Coast Jr.s on my C-10

I took those at Carlisle Trucks`07.
You can`t miss an air-starter,that`s for sure.

Just imagine this lil`Chevy with a decent looking paint job.I believe the short lived Detroit V16 went in these.

I seen one just like that yellow one,but it was black and very low and it was stretched out with a matching trailer.
I tried to pull off and get a picture as it rolled by, but no dice.
That was one sweet ride!

I'd love to have an old screamer. A rude and crude twin stick with no power steering, maybe even an air starter. I'd get my fun out of offering the wheel to some friends that are truck drivers, so I can laugh my butt off when they can't drive it

The videos are great. I love the pneumatic starter. I doubt those have been used on truck engines in 30 years.

Tim thats funny that you want one of those because I spotted one a couple miles from my house(at a repair shop) over the weekend and can't wait to get by there during the week to see if they will sell it.

An acquaintance of mine still has one on his tractor (I think it's a KW, but I won't bet my next paycheck on it)
I don't know how old the tractor is, but it works every damn day.

Re: I want one of these...

When I was about 7 my dad bought a '69 Mercury tandem axle day cab rig with a Detroit in it. My brother and I used to run her up and down the back road until he scrapped it. We nicknamed it "ETHEL" since you had to generally Ether it to start.

I am a member of ATHS I really enjoy there shows, lots of big old iron.

I was lusting over this one a while back on the evilBay. Pretty sure I couldn't convince the other half that this is logical, though.

Re: I want one of these...

I know where one is right now that has great running 6-71 supercharged Detroit with a Fuller <I think, I know its a 10 speed> 10 speed tranny. It was an old Yellow Trucking Company Truck (ya know the ones that said Yellow, but were actually orange!) He wants $800 for it. Getting it to Maryland may be the bigger issue though...
