what color is a tilt column?

I just picked up a tilt column from a 71 or 72 blazer that is painted black( and it looks factory painted black). It will be going in my 69 truck and that column is painted blue to match the body color of the truck. My question is did the tilt columns in 69(if they even had them)come with black paint or were they painted to match the body color?

Re: what color is a tilt column?

Every original tilt I've ever seen has been painted black.

When I finish mine, I'm painting it blue.

You going for a factory resto?

If not, paint it the color of the wheel

They were all black originally, although they look great painted the color of the interior.

Re: what color is a tilt column?

Tilts were a factory option from 70-72. They were painted black from the factory, but look slick when painted the color of the interior too (as some of the non-tilts were)

I think if you prep it correctly they are. scuff it up, clean it and spray self-etching primer at a minimum.
