1967 C20 long bed update
I have been a member here for quite some time, have followed a bunch of you guys and your builds and have gotten a ton of good info.. A few years ago i did the suspension and some steering work on this old gal.. Drove her around with the 4 speed and 250 6 for a bunch of miles.. It was a missouri farm truck that had low miles on it working on a farm and ran really good.. SM420 trans and 6. On craigslist in Dallas now..
Now i am onto the engine which is a late model silverado engine (L83) LT style.. and 6 speed trans.. I want to post some stuff here and show you all what i am up to with it.. Getting to cab corners and found more then i thought, that is the latest now, may need some help on it, i am a machinist by trade here, but this kind of welding i am new to.. Running a tank in back (boyds welding) .. Dakota RTX gauges, air con, hidden stereo bluetooth setup etc.. here we go.. I found also what i believe is a close code for the med green poly interior, that was a bunch of work, but PPG has a code and its REALLY close.. |

Re: 1967 C20 long bed update
interior paint.. hard to find.. .. I read a post with SS TIM, who was right on with the med green poly, next prob was finding a paint shop that could do it.. I think this is close, its one my favorite features of this truck..

Is that the Boyd's tank that accepts the OEM GM fuel pump?

Re: 1967 C20 long bed update
yea.. thats got the mu2101 gm one that is from the ZL1 camaro.. It will run with the speartech harness that has a plug for it.. they set it up with this flange and o ring that looks way solid. You just put the pump in and you feel a bit of spring force when the fuel pump "module" sits on the floor and you bolt it on..

Re: 1967 C20 long bed update
More to say on the old girl...
Going good still .. Much more work than i thought, crazy how it takes longer always.. Got the computer and wiring harness in the dash as well as a dakota digital module mount i machined.. Running a mark 8 fan that is two speed to run with the dakota fan controller and a really cool dual relay by Leash electronics.. Between those guys and CE auto electric this truck is really taking electrical shape.. Battery is mounted to frame behind cab now and have run wires everywhere.. Thought i would post an update on her.. Zach |

Re: 1967 C20 long bed update
I like how the Dakota gauges look.. but so far have not had them on.. Soon i think.. I really like the idea of plugging it into the computer port and getting all the gauge info and gear info on the engine that way.. The rtx line looks old school except for the lcd screens. I will post some pics of it soon, i plan on finishing this truck in a couple weeks i hope..

Very nice! I have the same poly green interior color. That's a great color combo you have.

Re: 1967 C20 long bed update
I took in my ashtray to have the paint matched. The poly green is close to the '65-'66 turquoise poly on the attached paint chip (code 510/43276). I have that page of PPG/Ditzler paint chips and it looks damn close to what was matched by the paint shop from my ashtray. I've also included a pic of my RH A-pillar in 503 Light Green contrasting the dash and interior in poly green.
You might spot the color difference between the driver side door frame and the door panel. My original '67 LH door was badly creased, likely from someone backing into a post or barn with the door open. I was lucky to find a '69 door in 503 green that even had the same rust streaks from a West Coast Jr mirror. The inside of the door was sprayed 503 green since GM no longer had different interior colors by '69, but otherwise the patina matches. In the last pic you can see where we sprayed the LH kick panel and cab corner to blend in the metal work with the rest of the cab. As usual, I can't respond with a short answer, but the paint codes and combinations are fun to discuss. My wife agrees - white exterior with poly green interior is an awesome combo. I wonder if your truck was also made in the St. Louis truck plant. The 6th VIN character will be an "S" for St. Louis, CS247S.

Re: 1967 C20 long bed update
i believe it was made in st louis.. I do have to look again but i remember decoding it a little and seeing that.. Its a cool truck, i bought it in St louis.. (shipped to los angeles) It was on EBAY 8 years ago full of hay with 38000 miles on it.. looked just like it does now but had split rims on it with early early tires.. I heard it was on a farm and stored in a barn for years.. i drove it like that for a little while.. i found the original seat material over at SMS.. Took a while to get it but its identical to what was on it.. I will post photos, seat comes back next week.. I found a shop in Dallas that said they had the med green poly code but it comes up now as a new code .. it may have more blue in it, or it could be that the interior aged.. It is close and i like it.. You changed to an auto as well i can see from your pics..

Re: 1967 C20 long bed update
My '67 C20 has a similar story - it was pulled out of a barn in Southern Illinois and had a family of racoons living in the cab. Yep...had to add an auto trans, now a 700R4 with an older valve body with hydraulic lock-up, which works great. Looking forward to seeing your seat redone in original vinyl.
