1972 Cheyeene 350 engine compartment question

Ok, I need some insight. I am slightly confused about the alternator and a/c brackets on my 72 Cheyenne.

I believe that the engine has been swaped with a later year (blue) possibly a 78 up 350.

My question is, would the original engine in my 72 have a short water pump or long one. It currently has a long one and the altenator is mounted on the passenger side. I know that the short style water pumps had alternators mounted on the drivers side and the a/c compressor on the passenger side.

Also I believe my a/c brackets which are not on the engine are for a drivers side mounted compressor.

Anyone have knowledge or pics of a factory engine compartment. I want to make this correct and dont want to waste time detailing and painting brackets for nothing.

You would think for as many of these trucks that I have owned, I would know.

All help is very much appreciated.
