Question for others running Heddman Headers
My question is to my fellow board members who are also running the Heddman Full-Length headers on their SBC Engines in a 2wd Non-A/C trucks.
The problem I noticed with mine is that the primary-tube on the drivers-side is about 1/16th of an inch or lss from rubbing on the lower control-arm nut and 90-degree Zerk fitting. I think when the engine vibrates/flexes under acceleration it touches. I say this because I noticed an unusual rattle/squeak last weekend on my way home and took a look at it and i'm pretty sure this is the cause. I also noticed the tube is very close to the frame rail as well. Anyone else with these problems? All I can say is I'm glad I'm going back to manifolds after all the leaky gaskets and trouble they have given me over the years! Kenny

The best solution I've found for leaky gaskets (both ends) are the "dead soft" gaskets. Only leak I ever had was because I didn't tighten the collector bolts after installing the engine, and lost a bolt. I replaced the bolt and no more exhaust leaks. I think that the close proximity you mention is just the nature of the design. You might gain some clearance around the control arm by using the next two (towards the firewall) motor mount bolt holes in the frame. Good luck and keep on truckin'...................Jerry
