Is this a direct swap for single-to-dual master cylinder?
Hey all,
Found a guy selling one of these locally, and I'm thinking about buying it to upgrade my 65 GMC from single master to dual master. I'm running the stock master now, on drum/drum. Just want to make sure whether this will be a simple swap (yes I have to run new lines) or if there is more work involved, like dealing w/ piston (I meant pushrod) length or something. Thanks in advance! Editing to put in real picture of part I'm looking to buy for $20 used. Previously linked to a different one.

Do you have disc or drum brakes in the front?

Why use an expensive Ford part when all you need is a '67-'70 C10 master cylinder from your local auto parts supply for about 1/2 that cost or less?

He's asking $20, but now that I see a new in box one is only <$50 maybe that's a safer way to go. In either case, are these direct swaps, or do I need to do any modifications?

I bolted a new one on from a 67 that I think looks the same as the one you show. Bolted right up, no adjustments or anything as I remember.
That one looks pretty new with the cap still in good condition. |

Yes, go with the new one, that's a better call. They are inexpensive.
If you were and will remain non-boosted, there should be no changes from behind the master cylinder rearward, same pushrod, no pedal changes, etc, - direct bolt on. Will need some fittings, and the only way I sorted all that out was to go in and poke thru the parts store stash. Take the mc with you and one of the lines you'll be connecting (or just grab one of theirs that you'll be buying). |

Re: Is this a direct swap for single-to-dual master cylinder?
Yep, I told him I'll pass on it. I thought I was saving ~$100 but I was only saving like $25, so not worth the trip. Thanks for the info guys.
