GM prices up again!
Hang on to your wallet. This time it is in dash ashtrays. They just went from $21 to $39. Hope the repros get here soon.

Y'all must not have had to buy parts for anything new lately. My body man told me that a fender for a late model Escort is now over $400! I tried to buy a cabin air filter for my 2001 Montana last year, price from GM to my parts man was over $100. Finally bought a Wix last week for $45. What's going on is that parts prices are increasing to make up for the loss of income from new car sales.

I read somewhere a few years back that an average 25G car would cost over 250G to build the same car from parts bought from a dealer( right down to the last nut and bolt).....talk about mark-up!!

I actually just sold my last new ashtray for $20. What a shock to replace it. I will not put this new one out for sale. It would make me look like a crook. I am just not going to try and explain GM's prices to my customers. I will use it as a comparison to the repros, when they are done. They will probably sell for about $15. I can live with a lot of little repro flaws for that price difference. Used ones, blasted clean, are looking pretty good to me.
...and have you prices BB MM and towers from GM lately? Don't! It will make you nuts! |
