S10 NV3500 2wd in a 67-72
Would it be possible to use an S10 NV3500 in a 67-72? I have a chance to get one for $60 with clutch, but don't really have a use for it just yet. I have a 4x4, so I know it won't work, but may get a 69 C10 soon, so was thinking of replacing the 3 on the tree with it.
Any info on this or advice would be great.

Re: S10 NV3500 2wd in a 67-72
2 major challenges: You have to run hydraulic clutch linkage, and it has an electric speedo drive. You also lose the stock bellhousing mounts, but that's no different from swapping in an automatic. So yes, it can be done, but because of the clutch it's not a bolt-in.
For the speedo there is finally a cheaper alternative to the $325 Cable X, http://www.dragonaero.com/SpeedChang...anicalPage.htm but their website doesn't tell you much, and I wouldn't order it blind. I requested info, but haven't heard a peep so far. Ray |
