first job is to take out the PO's bird's nest of wires, I always drove with a 5lb. dry chem fire extinghisher beside me. and install the painless 18 circut wiring harness.

almost finished the wiring, if you use a Painless kit, keep all your old harnesses and clips. It will make it a whole lot easier. (better yet, use a stock kit) Dynamt is now done. Damn my fingers are sore.

I'll bet it is a 1,000,000,000% better now too!! A 1"X1" square of that stuff quiets a big panel down, covering everything 100% out to make that thing sound like a sound proof room inside!!

back home, monday night and time for some down time. I want to thank you Mark (and Roxanne) for your hospitality and friendship during my stay. A week working on the Burb with no distractions was a great week "holiday". I got back home from Seattle at 1:00am. Not a single coffee shop on the way. Man the rest stop coffee sucks,....but a good cause. I was up at 5 am. settinig up the volleyball tournament and drank beer until 9 pm. Father's day cars show on Sunday. rest time now.

We got a lot done, what a job Mark did on the painless wiring. we used a 18 circut plus the A/C circut, and later added the painless elec. fan relay. (adjustable)

after the dynamat I put a 3/8" layer of closed foam heat/sound deadener. On the ride back home I felt no heat at all from the the caddy and tranny.

we also installed a 2nd battery with an isolator for the travel trailer. there is a 6ga. wire running to the year for the amps, air bag compressors and an invertor (I'm putting in a AC and DC plug). Oh yeah, Mark liked spending MY money for the 180 amp Alt. (TBI to be installed next) and the mega buck painless fan relay, I think the fan relay is a Swiss quatrz driven relay. BUT that fan relay is the cats a## Mark. does it ever work well.

the pictures don't give justice to the work Mark did. I get stressed out just thinking about wiring. Mark's ability to follow what does what with the you know what without missing a beat was uncanny.

we also installed a tilt column, Budnik 15" steering wheel and a tach cluster.

converted the GMC to a '68 front, got rid of the dorky '73 door mirrors and installed sport mirrors

Just talking to mark the little that I have, and seeing him work for just a couple hrs when I was picking up my burb... I wouldn't hesitate to let him dive in on something like that.

That 68 chev clip and sport mirrors make all the difference on the exterior. I looks out-f'n-standing! I like your choice of trim too. So how much quieter is the interior now?

CG - painting hopfully in the spring

Frizzle Fry - a big difference so far, I still have to put the closed foam on the ceiling and back quarter panels. I haven't Dynamated any of the doors. when I paint in the spring I'll be putting new felts and window channels, door rubbers etc.. That will make the biggest difference for this Burb.

next in line is the exhaust. looking for some opinions here. I'm going to go with 3" pipes. I can't go over the axle (14 bolt rear) because the trac bar mount pinches the exhaust pipe against the frame on big bumps. Since my pipes hang lower than the frame along the tranny, I'm thinking of taking the pipe outside the frame (duals of course). I have tons of room for a 7" round 3 in, 3 out to the rear. or 3" pipe straight to the rear and a 5 X 8 oval in the rears. I would need to lose the wheel well on the passenger side, oh well thats what AAA is for (BCAA up here) this would get the Snapon" look I like. other than I would have to put a heat sheild by the gas lines can anyone forsee any problems?

Get the Lokar adjustable column shifter kit and run your 3" pipes over the tranny mount. Cut 4.5" holes in your TA xmember and weld in reinforcing rings or just but the ECE version. Then swap your stock panhard bar out for the ECE super-trac bar that mounts to the PS U-Bolt. You should be able to tuck the pipes above the frame the whole way.

Have you driven your burb lately? I had a shift linkage like that but changed it for a cable. The problem I had that my shift lever was skaking like hel when I drove on a bumpy road. The ones with a cable are also verry easy to install.


This is a nice burb, like the combo.
also nice seats.

I have only driven it down the driveway with the new linkage. I hear it transfers more movement from the tranny to the shift arm, but I don't hang on to the shift arm while driving so we'll see if it's really an issue for me.
