New Toy GMC Shortbed 4x4

Well I'm new to the the old GMC truck game but think I found a good starter. Purchased from a 74 year old man for what I hope was a reasonable price. None the less I'm now committed to the truck and the joy of ownership. Bucket seats, tach in dash factory air, automatic with tilt wheel. Sierra model, 350 Ram Jet engine that runs well. Now I usually must have a factory all original equipment truck but it's so hard these days to find a all original truck that's in repairable condition in a short bed 4x4 without breaking the bank. Not sure what it's worth but hoping more than I paid. Any educated guesses on its actual value would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New Toy GMC Shortbed 4x4

Looks like a nice score. The answer to the what's it's worth question is always what a buyer is willing to pay. Does it really matter as long as your happy with it? The fact is, a lot of guys are looking for these trucks and the factory short beds in 4x4 are getting harder to find. Not standing in front of the truck, it's very hard to say what it's sale price point would be. In others words, don't get hung up on the price, focus on its value to you. I know guys that wouldn't sell their truck for 3 or 4 times what they paid for them. I,also know guys that wouldn't give you a nickel for a truck "that old". Enjoy your new ride.

Wow, that is a nice find! That thing looks very clean. I've seen some in much worse shape for sale with prices north of $10,000. From your photos, that looks really clean, so could easly be worth north of $10,000. I have $13k into my 72 k10 shortbed, and I'm not done, and yours looks much better. You asked what we think its value may be, and going by your photos, I'll go with above valeus. I could be, and probably am, way off, but some prices I see vary quite a bit. Regardless, nice ride!

Re: New Toy GMC Shortbed 4x4

Personally, I'm going to say WELL north of $10,000. Assuming the SPID backs up the original wheelbase (as it sounds like it would), that is a really, really clean SWB 4x4. Especially considering the location. You might be able to find something that clean out West in the low teens, but I think you'd be really hard pressed to get it for anywhere close to that in the rust belt without a gun being involved!

Nice truck, I bet you got a fair price on that truck, you do not seem to be in sticker shock. The way things are going right now there is no looking back.

Re: New Toy GMC Shortbed 4x4

Looks like a great truck that you don't even need to do anything to. Unless there's hidden rust we can't see from the far away pic you posted. $5g would be a crazy good buy, $5-10g really good buy, $10g-15g doing good still dependent on condition and if true SWB 4x4, $15-20g should be in great shape nothing major needed, $20g+ should be near perfect. At least in my world on the west coast lol Back east it could be a $30g truck depending on condition.

Very nice looking GMC.

I assure you it's worth every penny you paid for it at the very moment you decided to buy it.

There's nothing wrong with ended up a Ramjet 350 either.

Re: New Toy GMC Shortbed 4x4

Thanks guys for all the nice comments, I'm pretty glad to get it bought and it was a lucky find one night on a Canadian website. I could t have ask for a nicer seller and really was willing to work with me on every step of the way from coming down on price quite a ways to keeping it in his heated shop until I can get nice weather to get it home. As I said before he was a 74 year old man and in the end told me it wasn't about getting a lot of money out of it but being fair and making sure it went to a good home. He also said I was his first caller and he had several others call tried to offer more money and take it out from under me, he even said a couple got pushy with multiple calls trying to get it. But he stayed true to his word that I had first chance to make a decision in which it took me a couple weeks but he never pushed me. When I finally told him I would take it he ask me if I was sure or did I need more time to think? I couldn't have ask for a better experience from a more than honest man. Sorry guys but I cannot disclose my purchase price but you were very very close.

Re: New Toy GMC Shortbed 4x4

Still lots of guys who stay true to their word in the classic car world. I've always worked on a hand shake & cash when it gets done. Never denied a guy a little time if he needed it to get organized.

So does this meaning you're actually flipping it or keeping it long term?
