56 chevy pickup shocks

Im working on my 56 chevy pickup right now. And ive received a lot of advice from Dubie and I appreciate your help. Im running a 3" dropped axle and sagged leaf springs which gives me around an additional 4" drop. I will eventually run posies or monos leqfs in the front. My question is what shocks do you guys recommend using for what I have. Thanks again

Re: 56 chevy pickup shocks

The axle won't make any difference as the bottom of the axle is still in the same spot in relation to the frame as it was with the stock axle. the sagging springs might require a slightly shorter shock to keep from bottoming out and as you are thinking about swapping springs I'd say go with shocks that work with the mono leafs.

Most of us use the Monroe shock length/mount sheet to figure out what length of shock with proper ends we need and then either go with the Monroe number of choice or use that Monroe number and cross it to our favorite shock brand. Most shock brands have cross reference charts in the catalogs where you can cross the number over.

Ride wise it's your butt and back that is riding on them and that may or may not match that the rest of us like. I like a medium range gas shock that isn't too stiff or too soft while others want perfomance shocks or stiffer or softer shocks.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: 56 chevy pickup shocks

Anyone have part numbers for the nitro slammers that you use for your lowered straight axle with monos/posies/or sagging springs. Thanks
