Need Radio - Options for New Radio without Cutting Dash

Hi,

I have a 78 C10 with an old Cobra after-market radio that fits the original spot. The thing is garbage and I would like to replace with something with modern conveniences while not hacking up the dash at all.

A few questions.

- are there any good options that can be installed without hacking up the dash?

- anyone install the below stereo?

I've searched through many historical threads and found some decent dated info but I figured out I would throw it out to you folks.

Jay.

I've got one.
Overall, it's a good unit, simple, clean, easy to install.
However, for me at least, I'm left wanting more... i.e. bluetooth, usb, more adjust-ability, etc.
Been running mine for 6 years now and it's still rocking the pair of alpine 6.5's and polk 6x9's just fine.

i remember seeing someone on here install a single DIN stereo under the ash-tray with one of these mounts. that's the route i want to go down the road.

I just installed a Retro Sound Zuma model, I absolutely love it. I would highly recommend easy install and sounds great. I found some 4x10 3 way speakers on eBay to fit in the factory location in the cab corners, and bought the dual speaker from LMC for under the dash.

Thanks....

Seeing the truck (78 C10) is new to me and the stereo does not work, can you tell me where the speakers are. The only one I saw, without looking closely, is a single speaker at the top of the dash.

Most likely that is the only one.

If you have more than one the other will be behind the seat in each lower corner of the cab. There are factory bolt in brackets that hold the 4x10 speakers. LMC sells the brackets and covers for the speakers behind the seats. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=130

Another option is installing one under your seat and using a remote.

Not ideal, but out of sight is always good. My buddy did a stereo, amp, and iPod holder/ hook-up under the seat of his (gasp!) '68 Ford. Speakers live under the dash, behind the bench, and in the door panels.

Stock stero still lives where it should, and even works (as long as his aftermarket system is off).

He had help from a local stereo-install shop, but it's a neat set up, though it does require some forethought and practice to use.
