window seal question

I have new window seals on my doors, the felts on the inside and the rubber on the outside, but the rubber on the outside does not seal well. I roll the window up and in most places the the rubber does not even touch the glass. Who makes better seals? or am I doing something wrong? The seals I got look like a "T" with the top of the t rubber sagging down a little bit.

Re: window seal question

when you replaced them did you notice if the metal strap under vent window that joins the top of the outer door skin to the top of inner door frame was un-broken? Generally when I find the rubber scrapper does not rub the glass this strap is broken 100% of the time and when broke it allows that area to spread apart so that its no longer the correct width opening.

Re: window seal question

I did not pay that close attention to the strap but I think they are intact. I think that the opening is stretched out though, it just seems wider than it needs to be. Any remedy for a stretched opening that will not ding up a paint job? different seal that might work?

Re: window seal question

I ordered the GMCPauls kit and it seems to fit okay on mine. Lower the window all the way, check to make sure the opening is not bowed. You can squeeze it with your hands in the center of the opening and it will flex in and out. I'll measure the gap on mine so you can get some idea.

The door window opening on mine is about 1" metal to metal. The rubber part that sticks out of the scraper is 3/8". Hope this helps...
