Question WTB 70-72? Front 4x4 Tie Rod Center Link

Looking to buy a nice (no rot or bends) center tie rod link for a 4x4.
It's the piece that runs across the front of Dana 44 from left to right, and has a tie rod and adjusters on each end. Measures roughly 56" long.

Anybody got one that the end threads aren't rusted out, and no bends??

Thanks,
72longbed

Can you take some pictures that show the threaded ends too?

Thanks.

Red face Re: WTB 70-72? Front 4x4 Tie Rod Center Link

Hmmmmm ... that one looks worse than what I have now. Is that battery acid corrosion on the 'white' end?? Do the nuts and bolts and the internal threads in the rod itself all move freely ... both ends?

I may have to take a pass on that one.

Here are the pics! All this needs is to disassemble, media blast wire brush all threads, prime, paint and clean the tie rod end seals, be good as a new one. $125 plus shipping in a pvc tube. LMK. Thanks, Dan

Thumbs down Re: WTB 70-72? Front 4x4 Tie Rod Center Link

Ok Dan, first of all that is the 73-87 setup. Look at the pictures of the one above yours and see the difference.

Next, with all due respect, I can buy the 73-87 complete unit (all parts that make up the unit) BRAND NEW from Moog or TRW for 1/2 what you want to charge me for yours. It's all still available.

I'm looking to retain the original style 70-72 front unit. It is different from what you have there. Just looking for one in better shape than mine.

Thanks anyway.

Re: WTB 70-72? Front 4x4 Tie Rod Center Link

I'm thinking that when the open knuckle D44 came into use it was shared into the later years of the 73-87 trucks and maybe a bit later til IFS (inferior front suspension ) came about.

The 88-91 Blazers and Subs I think were the same body style. No doubt Dodge used the same (I think).

Not to mention the D44 was used by other manufacturers. Grab a few phone pics, a few measurements, and head for the scrapyard

I have one it is stripped to bare metal and has good threads. As well as it is not bent, it does have some minor pitting that I can send a picture of. $135.00 shipped

This is a picture of the pitted area, the pitting is not bad at all. I just wanted to disclose that it was there.

Jimer1964, I have another Front 4x4 Tie Rod Center Link, if you are interested I have included pictures.
It does have some scratches and pitting as shown in pictures. The threads are good, its not seized up.
