Repro Tachs: Questions about them
Does anybody know if the repro tachs work with modern electronic ignition?
Anybody have one they installed on their truck?

They should work with any V8 ignition.

Re: Repro Tachs: Questions about them
Yes, they SHOULD.
I've been a tech editor for car magazines for 20 years... I know a lot of things that "SHOULD" work, do not. Hence the question. Wondering if anyone has had any direct experience with installing a repro tach on a truck with HEI, MSD, etc. ignitions, and had it work. The sine wave of electronic ignition versus points ignition is different, and original tachs often can't read the waves generated from electronic ignition. A lot of reproduction tachs can't either. (I've got a friend who converts them to run with electronic ignition... he did an original Sun 8.5-grand tach for me that's going in my nostalgia Altered race car) -Brad

You "may" have to use a tach filter: http://www.classicparts.com/1947-72-...ctinfo/24-736/

Re: Repro Tachs: Questions about them
I installed the Repo tach from The Car and Truck Shop. It works great. I have a 350 with an HEI distributor. You can install it without removing gauge cluster from truck.
