I have a 1967 Chevy C10, It has the 327 with the three on the tree. i got the truck about a week ago and the engine and trany was out of the truck and all wires that connect to the starter where disconnected. how do i tell which wires go to the starter, and which ones go where. Originally the alternator was on the drivers side. A lot of people put the 73up brackets which locates them to the passenger side. As far as the starter wires I'd have to see to tell you. I don't have a picture I can acess for you right now either..

Re: starter wiring and altinator braket questions

the purple wire goes on the S terminal, the yellow wire goes on the R terminal, and the big ass red cable... well, it goes on the giant stud.

1st pic shows how it goes on the engine... but it's on the hood. The hole on the lower left of the arm uses the same bolt as the left side on the cradle.
2nd pic shows the 2 holes you'll be useing on the heads.
3rd shows where the cradle goes.

BUT 67 V8S DIDN'T HAVE ACCESSORY HOLES IN THE HEADS YET. I THINK THE BRACKETS FOR 67-68 ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT. THAT LOOKS TO BE THE 71-72BRACKET. SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG..

You are absolutly right... I missed that fact.
And again, that came off a 71 C/20 Longhorn with a 307.
Anyone have photos of the 67/68 brackets?

Re: starter wiring and altinator braket questions

i had to use the top right bolt on the water pump for one of the holes and the two holes at the end of the exhaust mantifold on the driver side. all i need to do is get some new bolts for the fan, get the fan in, and get the radiator in and see how she purs. after all that frustrating crap is over, i still need to take the engine back out clean it up for paint and paint the engine bay, if the engine does need to be rebuilt than it gives me a reason to swap the crank out with a stroker crank, and possable port the heads.
