disassemble help needed

Just getting ready to do some body work on a project and its my first time dissembling these trucks....well anything for that matter. Before i damage anything I figured i would ask everyone on here. I couldnt find any info on how to remove the steering shaft. I've enclose a pick to show the shaft so there is no confusion(I'm not sure what its really called, once again I am a total beginner). How do I take this out?
Thanks for the help in advance

Re: disassemble help needed

The easiest way for me is to take the two nuts off the bolts going through the rag joint at the bottom of the shaft and then take the bolt out at the top. That bolt will have a flat on one side that goes against the shaft

Once you have the bolt out of the top and the bottom end swung away from the rag joint the shaft should slide off. It may need a bit of persuasion from a hammer though.

I had removed the nuts on the rag join then undid this bolt but the shaft doesnt wanna move side to side so that I can slide it out, I feel like Im gonna break something if I push it to the side or pull it up.
