5 lug rear ends
hey guys have a question. Will a 5 lug rear out of a 73-87 1/2 truck fit a 67-72? what mods to I have to do to make it work. Seems like everyone wants too much for their 5 lug rears and I am going the cheap route at the yards!

Re: 5 lug rear ends
If your 67-72 is a leaf spring truck I think it will. The 73-87's didn't have rear coil springs therefore no panhard bar (track bar) mount would be on the axle housing. Hope that helps.

Re: 5 lug rear ends
One of the board members[I don't remember witch one] makes a kit to put a rear in with coils. It cost IIR about 150-160 range. It comes with the saddle mounts and a bolt on panhard bar. I have been contemplating this for my 68 2599 I was thinking of converting to a coil spring 1/2 ton just for the smoother ride. Because my truck [as long as I have it ]hard working days are over. Jim

Re: 5 lug rear ends
A replacement pair of 5 lug rear axles from Early Classic is 279.00, or 289.00 from CPP. With them you don't have to worry about the panhard bar etc. cause you use your housing and suspension as is.
