Looked at a 69 long bed today
OK --- you guys are as good at picking these trucks apart as anybody --- I don't N-e-e-d another truck, but i like this one and can envision a good putting around, go to the garden center type of rig. Also, -- i like long beds
It is relatively untouched -- needs rockers, but cab corners are solid. Front clip is in great shape -- the only real problem is a creased dent at the rear of the bed around the back up light. Truck drives great, but being a basic truck, has armstrong steering and brakes, pulls a slight bit to the right (frt. drums). Power is very nice and smooth (350 2 bbl) Price on the window is 2600 -- contemplating offering 2k -- am i on crack- , or is the seller. I didnt talk price today though. Front -- bumper/grill are faded, but clean and untouched by parking lot problems -- doors, cab and front clip are clean, -- dent visible in front of rear tire Drivers side is clean Rear 3/4 shot -- damage on right rear bed corner, tailgate has seen better days-- there is a dent in front of the rear tire as well (rounded with no crease-- easily workable) Drivers side rocker(speakers -- grrr) old US Mags style wheels pass. side rocker Interior - scroll type door panels, ugly seat, painted surfaces real clean, uncut dash, older underdash AC unit. Steering wheel is cracked, mirror is attached to the windshield , which is also cracked SPID --- work truck "trick" AC compressor , stock 350, 2bbl carb -- still has the heater stand on the right manifold

Re: Looked at a 69 long bed today
If he takes $2000.00 for it,I would say go for it.At that price if you decide to sell you should be able to break even or better. If you're wanting one to drive i doubt you will find a better driver for that price.
BTW who doesn't need another truck?

Re: Looked at a 69 long bed today
sure it's a 350? looks like a 307 to me, at least according to the option sheet and having no engine emblems. something to look into before pulling the trigger.

hmmm -- thats true -- maybe the seller just assumed it was a 350 , but didnt 350's usually have a 4bbl? -- it did have a spin on oil filter though, many of the 307's i've seen were canister type. with gas prices the way they are now, i am not even sure if a 307 2v is a deal breaker or not like it used to be

Re: Looked at a 69 long bed today
yeah, its not too bad --- definitely not one of those "deal of the century" type things we read about on here sometimes, but the gentlemen is not trying to retire to the Carribean on this truck's proceeds either

Re: Looked at a 69 long bed today
Not a bad rig for the price. $2000 would be a good deal, $2300 would be fair and $2600 would be about my upper limit.
That A/C compressor is da shizznit! with a little plumbing and a couple tanks- that thing could be one helluva on-board air source for bags, lockers, pneumatic tools, etc.....!

Re: Looked at a 69 long bed today
Up here where I live, $2600 wouldn't seem be too far out of line.

Just kidding (but true in Marin County and surrounding areas) --- it is gonna take me 3 days to come up with that much female deer (dough), so that gives me enough time to think about how bad i really need another truck
