Where to buy stuff cheap?

Hi Folks,

I'm new to the forum. I live in Houston Texas and I recently purchased an 1985 Shortbed GMC. I've been looking for parts for it on several web sites (e.g., LMC Truck, Brothers, etc.) and salvage yards. Where can I get the best deal on a billet grille? Also, is there someplace cheap to buy weatherstripping? Eventually, I need to either re-condition or replace the door panels and dash. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Welcome from Phoenix first of all. You've started in all the right places but also try ebay, craigslist and believe it or not your local chevy dealership (may not be cheap but it'll be right). Also check this forums classified area and sponsors.
Now you'd better post some pics because everyone will want to see your ride

Just thought I'd be the first to welcome you to our addiction.

I do not have too much experience buying too many of the parts you are asking about, but I'm sure others will have input. Boneyards are always cheap, but you may not get the stuff in the condition you want.

Keep comin' around.

from Louisiana! I recently purchased a 85 GMC also, and have found Captkaos (board vendor) to be a good source. Link> http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/m...oster&t=223855

Re: Where to buy stuff cheap?

Thanks Guys. I will post some pictures when I get a chance. It is a project truck. Currently, it is 2-tone brown & tan. I plan on painting it flame red, lowering it and putting new wheels/tires on it. It has a 350 bored 30 over with a 460/460 Lunati split duration cam, vortec heads and a 3 spd automatic transmission. It also has an Edlebrock Intake and an Edlebrock 750 carburator.

Just might add that ACE hardware has many clips, screws and other plastic pieces for installing headlights and bezels, door panels and so forth, always check with them before heading to the auot parts store.
