Quadrajet has brown crud on underside of carb? suposto be there? (w/pic)
hey all. just wondering if this brown crud is suposto be here on the under side of my quadrajet carb. also, can someone tell me what these 2 ports are for? someone maybe plugged them intentionally at one time? either that or the por15 tank restore has started to come loose and is gumming up the works?

That is an epoxy that is commonly put on the wells to prevent the fuel bowl from leaking down when setting. I generally use J.B. weld. If you remove the throttle body from the fuel bowl you will see them plainly.

I use to work on a lot of Q-jets back in the day and this is a very common fix to the fuel bowl leak down problem already mentioned. Looks like some on got to it before you did. Nothing to worry about unless it is coming off and needs to be replaced.
