Jackalope

Hello there 47-59 guys and gals. Well I'm building a 59 Apache for a good friend and thought I would throw up some pics and keep y'all posted on it's progress. I welcome advice from you guys as there is a ton of talent here.

I gotta tell ya that building stuff for Sam is what all fabricators and builders hope for. He's got great style ( in trucks, not sure about wardrobe) and really trusts my opinion. So with that said he sends me down to San Diego to check out a 59 Apache CL find. She was a little rusty but Sams likes em dirty so I loaded er up and brought it home for some upgrades.
Here is the plan:
No limit front IFS and 4 link
LS 5.3 with a 4L60E
Camaro disc brake rear
Some new wire
Radiator upgrade
Some sort of fuel tank out back
He's still trying to talk me into the triple roll bar with 8 lights. Hahaha J/K

Re: Jackalope

So I'll spare you the gruesome details of pulling the engine and trans. She came apart surprisingly well considering how old and untouched everything is. Other than the one front frame horn the chassis is in great shape.

Re: Jackalope

Looks good man!! People back east wish their '99 trucks frames were that rust-free and solid.

So with the body off I got right at it and welded all the No limit stuff together. It went together very nice, with a nice clean frame you can get one of these rolling in a couple days. Here is the progress.

Your truck looks brand new compared to mine when I brought it home. Mine's still untouched, haven't started playing with it yet. I'm planning on keeping the patina for sure. Probably lose the box and flatbed it.
Got a 454 and TH400 to swap in.

Sounds cool man, get it goin.

Yep she is stayin as is with the exception of door rubbers and felts etc. Just sent the frame out yesterday to get coated and took a spin down to the The Truck Shop to pick up some goodies. Complete teardown, chassis welded and coated within the week.
Here is a quick shot of the power plant.

Re: Jackalope

That's a Model A 4 banger with a 1955 Kaiser supercharger. It's going to be on the block asap for a full rebuild. It's begging to be stuck in an old roadster.
