Body Filler Questions
Can you apply new filler over top of existing ( prolly factory) filler, or do you have to apply it to the bare metal?

We alway's did it in a body shop I worked in I don't see it being a problem...But if you are talking about filler that was applied year's ago or by someone else I would not do that as you never know what someone's filler tallent might be...

the bondo on the cab is factory, but the stuff on the front clip is aftermarket but professionally done! It's been feathered off but I wasn't sure if I had to take it to the metal or not!

I'm not sure on this, but I am pretty sure they didn't have (or commonly use) plastic filler in the late 60's/early 70's. They were pretty much playing with tin and lead for fillers back then.
Also, i don't think they would have used any at the factory. Some one please correct me if i am wrong. |

Longhorn ... they did indeed use plastic fillers during this time frame and they did use them quite often. You would be very surprised at the amount of "factory" filler that was used and is still being used.
