Findad's Black Magic
I am new to the forum, at least to posting, I have been lurking for months and learning from you folks. so here is my baby's story, so far.
The truck is a '72 SWB, Fleet, 3 on the tree, no power. The original owner ran a gas station/garage out in the county and the story goes that he "got it out and came to town once a week" and supposedly it only got rained on once while he had it....???? My wifes grandfather both the truck at the estate auction in the early 80's. It came home with the aluminum topper with the yellow bubble windows and he drove it some, but she sat alot. He sold/loaned it to our preacher at the time with the conditions that it came back home when he got ready to do something different. Long story short, it came back and I ended up with it and drove the wheels off of it for a couple of years. Some 12 years ago I let a buddy talk me into letting him work on my old truck, which at that time I was driving daily but she was starting to have some issues, the 3 speed lost second gear and she was starting to smoke a little when started. We yanked the engine and had it rebuilt, swapped out the three speed for a TH350, added a tilt wheel and power steering. He got on the paint and got almost done...........then the probs began. Other things became more important to him and the old girl got pushed back to the corner and never got put back together. Long story short, my buddy screwed me and left town. I finally got the truck back home, while most of it was still in boxes. She got parked and sat, and sat, and sat. I had lots of good intentions of getting started, but never got to it. Until a few weeks ago!! I was shamed into getting it out and starting on it. After a few days and a several $$$$$$$ my crazy body man had things started again, drained the fuel system, rebuilt the carb and got her running again, and started on the body for the second time. Things didn't look so good under the hood. So we focused some attention on that area Then started adding some color. She is starting to make me Happy, Happy, Happy!

Thanks guys, I am having a blast with the project, except for the bills they keep sending me. I can see how serious addictions get started

Re: Findad's Black Magic
Baby needed some new shoes. I wanted something that would fit both "old & new school" looks so I decided on these: American Racing Blvd 20' x 8.5' with 255/45 Nitto's on the front and 20 x 10 with 295/40's on the back
here it is with them sitting in place, cant wait to get them mounted, I thik I'm gonna Like!!

Re: Findad's Black Magic
We (Fred & I) initally planned on re-using the original body moldings but after thinking about the amount of time it was going to take to buff, repaint the black, remove the woodgrain tape and replace or paint it; decided to go with the reproduction because with all the time involved, it wold look real good but still have some dings and such, so go new.
The new goodies arrived and installation began.

Re: Findad's Black Magic
I was hoping the 20's would fill it up better, but it looks like she has to come down a bit

Re: Findad's Black Magic
Got a little more done, added some vent shades.
Got the hood finished and installed, I'm liking the look! As much as I like it, it needs to come down to earth a bit, 3"/4" drop springs and shocks are on the way!!
