Any body have a pics of a school bus dash? Would like to have the whole dash not just gauges.

I took the gauges out of one over at the salvage yard and started putting them in my 67 dash. I think it was a 67 or 68 but I'm not sure. I don't think the whole dash will interchange but I would have to look closer at it. Here are a couple of pics.

Thanks Leon, if you get a chance some time take a pic of the dash sheet metal. I'm looking for something to go in my project. Is the dash flat or is there some shape to it?

I may be going over this afternoon if the mud isn't too deep... I think it was pretty flat.

Nice post. I drive a school bus and I see some older ones sitting around and wonder if they're available as parts resources. Guess I need to get off my "blessed assurance" and find out.

Hell, I never drive over 65 anyway so that isn't a problem for me..

"Limited to 85 MPH" and he says this is a bad thing... We are obviously not dealing with someone accustomed to 4.10 GEARS!!! If I could do 85 and keep all the pistons in the correct holes, I'd do BACKFLIPS!!

If you put 31" rear tires it makes it decently livable. Can even pull to 100 for a short burst if you can take 4000-4500 rpm

The pic I posted is of a regular pickup three hole dash panel I put the quad gauge in. Like basemodel67 said they are set right in the metal dashboard on the buses.

The school buses don't have a gauge panel like the trucks. They usually just have a metal panel with the gauges in them. I've been trying to get some for a while. The ones to find are slightly bigger than a regular truck gauge and have a silver raised bezel around them. They came in C-50 style bus.

Nice alternative for gauges. Could be cheap for a stripped hot rod. Did any of the bigger trucks have this style? All of the grain trucks I've been in had "truck clusters".

I did 3000 miles at 85-90mph in the Chevelle. And only 2200 rpm, I love overdrive and 3.08s! (21 mpg with the 600cfm eddy)

OK, I made it over to the salvage yard this morning. I will make two posts out of this. This one is for the 67-70 bus and the second one will be for the 79 bus. First pic is the dash that I took the individual gauges out of. The second shows that the ignition is the same as the harder to find '67 only pieces, and the ash tray is the same. The third one shows that the horn parts are the same as our trucks.

1979 Bus
This small, short nose bus had a plate that had a 1979 date on it. It hasn't been there very long so I hadn't checked it out. The first pic is of the instrument cluster still in the dash. The second one shows that the ignition assembly is the same as the 68-72 trucks. The third one shows the shift collar with the early style hazard warning button. Forth is the black seat belts (in really good condition), and the fifth is the goodies I pulled out of the '79. All it took to get the instrument cluster out was the phillips screwdriver and wire cutters on my Leatherman tool. I will go back with some tools later today and get the seat belts and steering column parts.

I haven't checked the plug in but the light switch appears to be the same as the 67-72 trucks also.

I forgot to say that the dashboard in this one is fiberglass or plastic, not metal.

You guys are so lucky to still have junkyards like that. It seems all the junkyards around here crushed everything 1991 and older.

I had the same idea to use the gauges out of my 49 chevy, but i have an 82 bus sitting that has the same gauges you are showing... thats a much better idea! now i can use electric sensors and a volt gauge instead of mechanical and amps! thanks!
