Shipping trim?

Ill be building a crate for a GMC grill when I get back from a short road trip, I think I have that one figured out.

I might be shipping some 67/68 trim when I get back. Shipping the long straight pieces, no problem. How do you guys that have done this ship the wheel arch trim? NOS stuff is hard enough to come by, Id hate to have it get damaged in shipment.

Yeah, to ship wheel trim properly requires a box that will fit the whole arch, unfortunately.

Long straight pieces I ship inside PVC pipe, if that helps you. But the arches I've only found lots of packing and a big box. You wind up paying for "dimensional weight" because they're so light, so it's still not cheap...

I've used 1x (2 I think) for a frame with heavy cardboard stapled or 1/4" Luan (plywood). Use bubble wrap. I also use 1/2" foam board for adding light rigidity to cardboard packaging. Empty water bottles make excellent crush protection

I have windshield & back window trim. The back is not such a big deal but the windshield seems the hardest thing to package. I figure that's local sale. I guess the repro gets sent in a huge box

You can order glass from Summit for $99 free shipping... how they can pack and ship at that price I don't know!

Sweetheart deals with shippers. We pay the difference . Glass is the other thing I did not mention. I have a lot of that and feel it must be local sale only. Same thing as with Summit. I'd have to give the glass away to compare to new glass shipped prices.
