Scored some nice "tush" on craigslist
That's right.......picked me up a great deal on a rear end today. Turned out to be a correct 1967 Camaro 3.31 non posi 12 bolt for $125. Complete drum to drum with lines, E brake cables, mono springs AND 70s style traction bars. The guys over at Team Camaro about crapped.
Question is the guys said that a "car" 12 bolt is actually stronger than the "truck" 12 bolts. Now why in the heck would that be???? |

I "think" the ring and pinion are larger, not sure though.

Actually it looks like the truck 12 bolt uses a smaller pinion like that in the 10 bolt car rear end. That's weird!

Great score that is worth way too much to some Camaro guy (but you already know that) to want to stick it under a truck. Not that it wouldn't be great under a truck.

Oh no.....this is a flipper!!! Bought one 2 years ago for $300 and dumped it for $1,200 plus freight on ebay. I just setup a big bearing 9" for my Camaro so this one is going in the "funds re-coop" pile!

The truck 12 bolt uses a smaller pinion bearing than the car one. As far as i know, the car 12 bolt and the 8.5" ten bolt both use the same larger size(the larger bearing was part of their design to solve the problem some of the truck 12 bolts had.) that is part of the reason they ditched the 12 bolt truck rear, the part that broke was solved and the 8.5 was pretty much as strong, plus there was less of a need of 4.11+ gearsets so the 8.5 fit the bill nicely.
