Took a trip to the salvage yard

I didn't figure my Chiefs had a snowflake's chance in a campfire of beating the Green Bay Packers this afternoon (oops) so, since it was a nice day here, I decided to see what I could find at a couple local salvage yards.

The pickins were slim for stuff I was interested in, but there were some interesting finds. There was another nice 69, but the pics didn't come out.

Hey Mike,

U-Pick-it....There's one on 12th street in KCK, the other (where the gold truck is) is over on your side of town. Independence Ave. almost to 435.

How's the knee? Back to work I hope.

PM me next time coming over this way and go down there and walk around with you. I went back to work on Wed. and got a call that my mom had died so I've been off helping my dad with the arrangements.

Thanks, The saddest thing I have ever seen in my life was my dad's face that day. They would have been married 55yrs Christmas eve.

Re: Took a trip to the salvage yard

Mike,

So sorry to hear about your mom. I lost my mother nine years ago next week.

I'll get in touch next time. This place had a Longhorn that was pretty well picked over and this brown truck in the photos. Everything else I found was pretty much late model.

I think there's some salvage yards over off Manchester Trafficway. I don't know if they're open on the weekend or not. Most of the yards in KCK are not. If we get another nice day, I'll shoot you a note and we'll get together and see what we can turn up.

Take care.

Re: Took a trip to the salvage yard

Mike, Sorry to hear about your mother, thoughts and prayers will be sent.

Willie, there is a yard over by Independence Ave and 24 highway that has a 70 blazer 4x4, he's had it on KC craigs for months, he finally posted some pics of it. I've been wanting to get down there but haven't had time. I'm not sure what else he has.
Thanks for the pics, Randy

Oh ya, my packers looked terrible, lol

Mike, if you're planning on going, be sure to take your mud boots, that place is a swamp! I went there last year and the guy was kind of hard to deal with, he wanted to know what you wanted, and he would let you know if he had it. didnt seem like he wanted people just looking around.

As for the gold '69 at UPI, it's getting picked over fast, all the inside A/C stuff was gone, drivers door, carb, radiator, ect. It does however still have it's original 400 turbo in it if anybody is looking for one.

I found this inside of it, some kind of invoice, but doesn't have any prices, thought it was kinda cool. Also found a reciept from where the truck had been bought at an auction last year for $1150. Mileage on it shows 17050, and the odometer today shows 176xx. Guess whoever bought it didn't drive it much in the year they had it before junking it.

Re: Took a trip to the salvage yard

Your right that guy is tough to deal with. I called him 3 times about this blazer, and asked for pics, he kept asking what am I needing, I told him the whole thing but still wouldn't take pics, or atleast it was 2 months later he finally posted some, and still none of inside

Is this place even a business? I drove by there a few months ago (I think I was lost) and it didn't even look like a business to me. Looked more like some old coot had owned the land for 50 years and was storing all his junk there.

Re: Took a trip to the salvage yard

I got off to late to go by there today, But I'll try again tomarrow. I don't want to step on your toes Randy, but I would like some buckets and a console if it still has them. I won't go behind your back because I'm not like that.

Thanks Jeff, I feel bad, I didn't mean to hijack Bill's thread with such a downer. I usually don't air my personal business to anyone, but it's a rough time.
