Re: Do i put air bags on this ?

That's a great looking truck as it is. In my opinion no, but if you didn't win solely because it doesn't have airbags I think it's a shame.

Re: Do i put air bags on this ?

Well, from one ///RA brother to another.. YES!

Great part about these trucks is if you do put air on them, everything is bolt on and can be put back to stock (except for the C-notch)

With a truck that nice, I'm riding the fence on a dropmember. Cause once you go that route there is no turning back..

Re: Do i put air bags on this ?

iam open to opinions and thanks for your thoughts on this. and yall are right its not about the trophies, trust me ive met some great guys at car shows and have fun at all of them, but i guess iam just more curious than anything to know what it would look like. but then i have to decide do i wanna c-notch this frame? my other option that ive thought about is buy another truck and tear that one up and leave this one alone. iam just not one to leave something alone iam always wondering. FUNNY STORY..my daughter who is only 7 stayed with me for the awards at a show 3 months ago and she asked me "daddy are you gonna win something?" i told her "probably not baby cause daddy is in the same class as mike" (which is my buddys truck and is a very nice truck also and has airbags.) so then my daughter responds "daddy i wish you were rich so you can put the things that go up and down like mike and you can win" just cracked me up the way my daughter thinks i had to explain to her that i go for the fun.

I say yes,... only if you want bags.
I wouldn't worry about the car shows and who wins.
Will your wheel backspacing work with a lower suspension?

I also agree.
If you're going to shows looking for a trophy, then you're in it for the wrong reasons. We call those cats: Trophy hounds. Always sniffing around for plastic. They're almost as bad as "Power Parkers".

Sure, we ALL like it when we're recognized by our peers and we ALL like it when we come away with something, but that's not why I go to shows.
I have a '56 F-100 that ALWAYS gets first and I can't seem to get past him at any show. He has a fantastic engine bay with a 351 with a 3-duece set-up and tilt-forward hood. It's a very nice truck and worthy of what he wins.
So should I run out and try to "one-up" him and get a FI set-up with mini-stacks and paint my engine bay Shiny black and put a tilt front clip just to beat him?
NO, for 2 reasons
1: He's a friend of mine and it is what it is.
2: My truck is how I like it and if the judging likes his better than mine, so be it, they're morons and wouldn't know a nice truck if it hit them doing 50.

If you think Baggin' your ride will get you more thophys, then what we're going to tell you isn't going to make a difference.
If you wanna spend all that money just to get a 10 dollar trophy, well then, more power to ya.

Do what you want to do, car shows are great, but not about the show, they are all about the fun and the beer!

Re: Do i put air bags on this ?

Do you plan on cutting the truck up?
Do you want the expense & upkeep of an air system vs. your current 'done' static set-up?
What do you hope to gain by switching to air-ride?

A trophy is something that sits on a shelf. Add a buck-fifty & combined they'll get you a soda. Build your truck to enjoy. If you want air-ride, do it. If you can benefit from air-ride, do it. To keep up w/the 'others', isn't reason enough....

Re: Do i put air bags on this ?

i build my vehicles to drive and enjoy with little to no maintenance and could really care less about what anybody else thinks about my ride

in my opinion bags tends to devalue a good reliable driver vehicle

If c-notch is as low as you want...I'd vote no and just bring down the rear another inch or two if you can (without notching) If you're not going with a big notch it won't look like the photoshopped picture posted here. And the front shouldn't be too low if the rear won't be.

Maybe just look at some interior or engine bay upgrades that might put you over the top at a show if that's still a concern.
