fleetside shortbox issue

Ok.. Probably something simple but I just cannot seem to figure it out.. I just installed all new wood/strips. I have yet to install the larger bolts for the bedsides and wheel wells.. Issue is the top of the bed sides at the tailgate are wider than the bottom. I have the tailgate installed and wanted to get everything lined up before I tightened everything up. I have to push in on my bedsides to get a decent gap at the top with the tailgate.. The hidden latches currently will not work..

It does not appear bolting in the bedsides/wheel wells is going to make much of a difference, it will only lock it in place as it sits..

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated, what do I need to move to get this lined up. Thanks

Reid

Re: fleetside shortbox issue

I think tightening the perimeter bolts would correct your gaps on the tailgate. I would start tightening from the front and work your way back and see if the gap starts correcting itself. My other thought would be when I did it years ago I had my tailgate latched, which basically set my gaps, but it doesn't sound like you can do that so you might want to put a winch between the stake holes and get your gaps right before tightening the bolts.

Good luck.
