Is there any way to tell if a rear is posi without taking it apart? any numbers on it? I can't read the glove box spec sheet

Take it on a gravel road and put the pedal down !!!
 Either pull the cover or check the glovebox label..Since you cant read the label just pull the cover.It could probably use some new oil in it,anyway.. |

jack the rear end up and turn one wheel, if its a posi then both wheels will turn in the same direction.

I believe you can also jack the rear wheels up and turn one. If the other moves in the same direction, it's a posi.
Or as 69k says, the fun way is to step on it and see if you leave dual tracks. Don't let the cops catch you...

I was asking because I know a guy selling a parts truck for 100.00 bucks. It had a auto tilt column that I bought for....or should I say stole for 25.00. I couldn't read all of the label in the glovebox. Its almost a hike to get to the truck. It's in a longhorn cow field. I don't think i'm going to carry a jack out to it, but I didn't think about turing the wheels. Ooo well if it has posi it's not going to be mine.
I'm pretty sure that it has disk brakes, but no break booster or master cy. If anyone is interested in the parts truck in va I could send you the info. body is shot lwb. no good glass. no engine or trans. c/10 no title no good bumpers, no steering column. if you need the brakes or Tr. arms I bet he would sell them cheap. Look for the vent tube. Also Red warning tag was put on posi units. Attaches to the filler plug. I found this tag on my diff. when I did an oil change this week.
