I have a disassembled 72 rear end that has 3.73 gears.axles are good and breaks are still on there.everything is intact. Was going to use it but I need a 69-70 grille..would consirder a 71-72 grille if you have one to trade.

King - Unfortunately I don't have any grills and all I really need is the posi unit to put in my 3.73 rearend. If you would be willing to separate the posi unit, let me know how much.

Gene - All I really need is the posi unit. I don't think the 3.08 carrier will work with 3.73 gears, but I'm not positive. No pun intended, .

I have a rear end with a 3.73 gear set and a posi. 5 lug axles. Completely rebuilt. All new bearings and seals, etc. Painted high gloss black with Por-15. I would possibly trade for a rebuilt 3.08 posi rear axle in same condition if you were interested. If I can find a good used turbo 400 I'de be better off with the 3.08 anyway. LMK if interested.

I've got a 3.08 posi with 5 lug. Are you going to Atlanta any time soon? Or you can come down and buy my 50th SWB BB and take it with you.....

Dont beleive I'll be going to Atlanta anytime soon. I'd love to have a 50th but I should probably finish my 72 Big Block Super Cheyenne first. Is your 3.08 rear rebuilt, painted, etc? May be able to meet you halfway if you had a couple short fleet bedsides you could make me a good deal on.

Did it come with an install kit? Do you have a part #? I was trying to find a good used one, but this may be the way to go. Thanks for the information. Making any progress on your big block truck? I've got to make a decision on whether I'm going to continue building my 50th BB SWB pretty soon. If I don't I'll have a bunch of the hard to find BB stuff for sale. TTYL.

Re: WTB - Need a good posi unit for a 3.73...

I don't know if it came with a kit or not. I am not even going to try to attempt to install it myself, I am going to let my rearend guy do it. I will be out at the shop in a bit and will try to get a part #.

My project truck or at least the body has been at the paint shop for 19 nonths (16 months longer that he said it would), but I am very close to getting my little swb survivor in daily driving condition.

I can always use BB stuff, I really really need a BB heat riser if you have one of those.....Jason

Glad to hear your making progress on your truck. The part number would be great when you get chance. I've got an NOS heat tube (no sticker), perfect heat riser, passenger side heat shield, pulleys, complete bracket setup (a/c, ps, alt), fan shroud, clutch fan, 402/TH400.....pretty much everything to put together a nice BB truck. The pictures of your motor and chassis is what set me off on this journey..... I found this LWB 68 50th factory BB/AC truck to do the build with, but I've got to many projects.... Here's a link to what I'm doing with it:

Do you know the condition? Will you sell without the gears?

Re: WTB - Need a good posi unit for a 3.73...

The 3.08 posi will not work with 3.73 gears. Instead of buying a full posi, I bought a powertrax lock-right, I think it's part# 1910. The advantage is that you can do it yourself with regular hand tools and no installation kit. Mine went in ok, but I haven't driven it yet because the truck is still being put back together.

Here's an article, and they are available all over the place.

Thanks for the info HGS. Do you think it will hold up to over 600 hp/torque?

No, they will not. I broke 2 of them with a stock zz4 and 275/60r15 tires.

Probably not, but depends how you drive it of course.

I'm not sure the 12 bolt with standard axles will take that abuse for very long. You may need to upgrade the axles too.
