looked under the floor mat today, lookie!!

I had to remove the seat from my 71 with 2k original miles yesterday to replace the float in the tank. So while it was out I took out the mat and cleaned it. Check out these floors!!!

I hate you. The paint on your floor is better than any paint on my truck.

This is could be an important discovery in the cab painting process. I was under the assumption cabs were primed in red oxide (brown), while hoods, fenders, beds and tailgates were primed in black. Could it be the floor boards got one extra coat of a special gray zinc primer before final finishing coat ?

Sounds like another topic that could vary by plant.

In Flint the cab and box (including tailgates) were painted on the same paint shop carrier (so you will find the primer color of those items to be all the same); the hood and fenders were painted together on their own carrier, but at the opposite end of the plant from the cab/box.

I believe that is where the factory placed the radio delete plate when painting the truck. I have the same outline on my floor, and it has radio delete.

I can top that. Look what I found in cab corner of last truck I parted. But really that's the most spectaculous close to virgin truck I've seen.

Likely where the factory painted the radio block off plate.

Joesjunk, thanks for showing us pictures of this amazing truck. If possible, could you take some pictures of the muffler and tailpipe? I'd like to see how they were from the factory.

Yes, thanks for posting the pictures. That floor is incredible and it's helpful to see exactly how the wiring is routed by the high beam switch. That truck could be very helpful in stock restorations.
