Belt squeal
My belts are squealing when I accererate hard on my 350. I have stock accessories(alt and ps) and both belts are tight? Why would they still be making noise? How can I fix it? Would "belt dressing" help?
Thanks

Re: Belt squeal
Sometimes belt dressing helps, untill you fix the problem, but not a fix. First make sure that your belts are the correct size for the grooves in your pulleys as well as that the pulleys are all the same groove. Next I would check the grooves in the pulleys and make sure they are not glazed. If they are then some med emery cloth can be used to scuff up the pulley grooves. Dont forget also to check the belts now for glaze or being very slick and shiney if they are replace them after you find the cause of the problem.

Re: Belt squeal
Also, make sure after everything else checks out, that your belts are not too tight. This can cause belt squeal, and belt failure as well.

Re: Belt squeal
One other thing to look for. Make sure the belts are in line. Squeal can happen if they rub against the lip of the pulleys because of misalignment of the belt path. There is always a little slop around the shaft of the bolts and if its to far off you can actually see the pressure points if you look down the belt path.
