Small Block in the Inline 6 position?
What motor stands do I need to move the smallblock to the I6 position? Are there 2 different I6 stands or will ones from any I6 (250,292) work?
Thanks, Jay |

I am not sure, so someone please correct me on this if I am wrong.
The inline L-6 250 CID mounts are a bit taller than smalll block towers, but either those ones or small blcok towers should do. The 292 has mis-match towers. Not a good idea, the engine would be crooked. Big block towers...worth way too much to install under a small block. |

I have a set of SB stands now. The holes in the frame line up ,but there is no hole in the crossmember. Do I Just need to drill one? Or do I need I6 stands?

I think that if you use the sb stands the motor will be too high and the distributor will foul the firewall. I used the 6 cylinder stands and everything worked well . I didn't try the sb stands, just repeating what I was told..
Mine was a 250 by the way.

hmmm. Longhorn man mentioned that the I6 mounts might be taller. I definitely want the motor sitting as low as possible. Can anyone else shed some light on this?
Thanks for the input Bernie! |
