I picked up a set of old school aluminum slots off EBAY. They have the large center holes and the appropriate lug spacing, no problem one would think and that is true with the back wheels, but not the front. The drums have a little pin sticking through the front in 3 spots. The flange on the back of the wheels is of course flat. The old steel wheels seem to have a recess to accommodate the pin sticking through. I'm calling it a pin but really don't know what it is or it's purpose. Wondering if I can just grind it down to allow the flange to seat flat against the drum which is what is needed. Tell me what you think and thanks. The white arrow shows one of the pins. Surely some of you have ran into this.

My guess it it was part of the original factory rivet to hold the drums on during assembly. Someone likely cut the head off, so they could get the drums off to change the brake shoes. You can grind that down or pull the drum off and knock out the rest of the rivet.

It's a locator pin and can be removed.. some cars have that style pin and some have a bolt, but either way they can be removed. And yes the original steel wheels have provisions to clear it.

They are rivets/pins. the hub and drum on these are riveted/pined from factory on the fronts. I ground mine off and made it where i could remove the drum without having to take hub off. won't hurt a thing.

Yes, you can grind the rivet heads off. I did that to mine and then took the drum off the hub so I could have the drum turned. It doesn't hurt a thing to grind them down.

Your slots look nice. Of course, I'll admit that I am partial to slots. That's what I have too. Jeep Wagoneer slots from the 1970's. So happy I found them.

yea I remember reading here that you can ditch the rivots. I personally didn't have the issue with mine. The set I found came of a 70 c10. Don't believe mine to be wagoneers

Slots I did up for the 65. Polished outer, anthricite center including cap with the clear flattened, chrome 3 bar.

Might wanna remove the back portion of the rivets before trying your luck with driving w/out interference...I'd at least check & determine for sure if this is needed.

The rivet can be removed by knocking it out with a punch. Not really necessary unless it is loose in the hole. It WILL be necessary to knock it out to remove the hub from the front drum. I did that when I had my drums turned.
