I may have sold my truck today?????

I had my '72 Hugger Orange/White SWB BB truck out today and I had a guys follow me into my brother's machine shop parking lot. He asked if he could look at the truck. He then asked if he could take a few pictures. He then asked if I wanted to sell it. I told him I was not interested in selling it. He then asked, "If you were to sell it, how much would you need for it?". He looked the truck over and asked about originality, etc. I let him see the SPID and he was able to see the engine code. I gave him a number that would make most people run for the hills and he went to his car and made a call. When he came out he told me he would take it. I told him I would want cash or a bank wire transfer. He left me with a sizable cash deposit and his phone number.

Re: I may have sold my truck today?????

My Wife & I alway play these "What If" games with each other.
I can seriously say that I'm glad I wasn't in your shoes.
I don't know if I'd want to be faced with a Decision like that.
I tell myself "NO WAY WOULD I SELL IT"!

But if someone came up to me TODAY and said I'll give you $20K for your Truck, I'd have to say..."I need 3 weeks to Test Drive and see what else is out there for $20K, before I say yes"

Re: I may have sold my truck today?????

Just think long and hard it about, Dan. I sold my regular old '69 C10 for a price that I thought was well more than it was worth to buy my '69 Camaro SS. I loved my truck, but I thought getting my dream car would make getting rid of my truck OK. I was wrong, I regret selling my truck. It was nothing really special, but my kids grew up riding it, and it was my pride and joy. I ended up with a way more valuable car, but I don't feel the same way about it as I did my truck.

When I look at your truck, an original hugger orange and white 402 SWB, I have wonder what is better than that? You may buy something that is considered better by most people, but it really might not be better to you . The day I found my Camaro, I woke up that morning with absolutely no intention of selling my truck. An offer "too good to turn down" presented itself, and before I knew it my truck belonged to someone else.

Just sharing my experience, and urging you to give it plenty of thought.

Hopefully the number you said was ridiculous enough to allow you to do exactly what you want with the next one

Dan after talking to you Jason and I were talking about how well you did and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy and the new owner could not have bought a more desirable truck. To us your truck was one of the most desirable trucks we have ever seen or heard about.
Way to go Paul

I would do that, if I could find my Dad's orginal 71 chevy.... I remember riding home with him in it, when he bought it brand new from the dealership, right when he got back from a vietnam...

Just figured since your were selling a BB swb you could pick up another at a pretty good price Thanks for looking

All kidding aside, that is the truck I would buy if I could. What do I need to look for when verifying that it really is original #s matching? SPID, engine numbers, what about the VIN? anything else? It seems like BB SWB nicely equipped trucks just don't exist around here.
