most original 60-66 truck in existence?

This may seem like a self serving ploy for attention, but I am truly interested to know where the best preserved 60-66 trucks and suburbans in existence are, who's got them, and how/where did they find them.
Yes, I'm aware this site is visited mostly by guys who prefer modified trucks, but it seems a pretty active bunch, and I know at least a few originality freaks are lurking.
So, sound off with the most incredible finds you've seen or heard of, and please post pics if you have them.
I'll start the thread going with my 66 C-10, 8900 mile barn find.

Nice looking truck. There's some original trucks here.
This is my 65 K-10 that's all original except for the wheels.
It was a Dept of Game and Inland Fisheries truck.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

I bought mine pretty original (even the tinworm) six years ago. Never been into concours restoration and I ain't got the money or the skills; so I keep it pretty much "as is" to the despair of all the polishers at the car shows I sometimes go to.

This is as it arrived at my house in 2005......

.... since then it's been used for what God intended it for....

..... but about three years ago the fenders and door bottoms got beyond what was acceptable to the annual roadworthiness test (known as the MOT test) over here in the UK. So I sent it up to a friend who specialises in old American stuff;

http://www.bryansrestorations.com/

.... and he fixed it up to look pretty much how it is but without the rust. Not "rat-rod", but something like a 48 year old GMC would look. Only thing that does now look slightly out of place is the new seat cover, but that's not too bad.

Link here to slideshow;

http://s75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...t=aef656e3.pbw

I won't claim for one moment that the paint's a perfect match but it passes casual inspection, even friends who know the truck have overlooked the missing rust!

Three years on the bed's nicely weathered, I give it a coat of teak oil twice a year, and the truck's still running fine. That's how I like it; a restoration would remove all of its character.

Those trucks are gorgeous and doing anything to them but preserving them would be a crime.

I'll never have the wallet or the patience to do a real resto, nor would I ever get my money back, so I'll stick to picking up junkers and restoring some form of life to them and admiring those stock beauties whenever I see them.

In the pictures above, the truck is just as I got it from the original owners (save for clean up). It's all orig including the tires!
Since then, I repainted both bumpers which (sadly) had been quickly redone before the sale. Otherwise, no cosmetic restoration.
Here's the story from an older thread:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...29#post4304629

Very cool! Oh, and I park my rig and trailer in that lot at LAEC frequently for horse shows.

If there were more examples like these around I’m sure there would be far more owners interested in preserving or restoring them, I know I would. Unfortunately most received no better treatment than a lawn mower or a garden shovel, leaving precious few to be found in such immaculate condition.

I never tire of looking at your truck. It is truly breathtaking.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Great idea for a thread! It looks oem4me takes the prize so far. Your trucks, C 10 and the Suburban, are the cleanest most original trucks I have ever seen. Your colection takes the 60 thru 66 era to the next level. This era should be right up there with the best of any popular truck or car series ever made. Finding a clean low mileage truck that was not used commerically, is a rarity in these years.Hopefully many will learn from this thread and treat this era of truck the same way other eras of trucks and cars are treated, with more respect. People who own collector 55-57 T birds or 65 thru 67 GTOs etc. just don't drop them, change the wheels and paint them any old color that tickles their fancy.When it comes to this era truck, personal prefences seem to be more important than historical accuracy. There is a sad mentality, "its just a truck". Just a few years back, many people on this site didn't realize the 283 was painted a grayish color, the 250 was blueish , the 292 and 327 was green. And the same people probably thought the bed wood came varnished oak, not painted black. When we get more serious, the trucks will be taken more seriously.

Yes, I remember the red truck. It was VERY interesting, except the new paint and cheesy wheels. It's a good example of how unknowingly, somebody can wipe away rarity, history, and real value by "improving" it with a paint job. I actually don't know what is was like before, but my guess is it should have been left alone.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Another collector who likes low mile trucks sent me this awhile back. 5300 miles.
I think it sold for $21000 at auction. An incredible find, just too bad it had every conceivable accessory drilled into it. OOF!

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

A 25k mile all original paint base model '64 GMC. Was offered for sale about 10 years ago in Hemmings for 15K. Note factory optional "Retrac" mirrors, center of hood scoop painted black, rear fender tubs and wood also painted black. Interior was also immaculate with excellent original seat upholstry.

BEAUTIFUL truck! Everybody I know with these trucks has them bagged and everything, which I like, but I like to be different too, so here lately I've been thinking about raising mine up a lil or just putting some bigger tires on it. Still aint decided but I think this truck helped me out quite a bit.

oem4me, nice idea for a thread. But, since you're a new member let me point out that "truck bashing" here is frowned upon. It's just not what this site's all about. If you see something that's not "your taste" just move on. It's very possible that a member here owns one of those trucks. I would guess if it were you, some of those comments wouldn't be appreciated.
