Lightbulb Has anyone seen any box covers

Does anyone know where or if they make fibeglass tonneau covers for the 67-72 trucks? Some reason I thought I saw a place in a magazine but don't remember where? Anyone have any pics of trucks with them on.
Thanks

Re: Has anyone seen any box covers

Gaylord's are a good fit, if you have a stock paint (any vehicle or year stock paint) they can match it. Make sure they send the right gas struts. I had to have them send 3 sets til they got it right. I paid $1100 Can, delivered to Blaine, Washington and picked it up myself. that was 2 years ago. It was far cheaper than low rider, who wouldn't paint theirs. my truck is 410HP, no rear sway, the distibuted weight of the cover helps the truck stay tighter around quicker corners.

Re: Has anyone seen any box covers

Checkmate in Ky will custom make & paint one too. I have heard stories all from their rivals though that they were POS. But a talked to some who owned them said that they were great. I know they are more reasonable on price against their rivals. They also have several upgrades available carpet, Lights I think for additional fee. They also have a web page if I remember right. Search goggle.

I believe Tim Christians son has the Checkmate. It's a low profile style. It has a thin ledge that lays around the perimeter of the bed rails.I like the looks but have never had one so couldn't tell you how well they hold up.

I Love my Gaylords lid, here's a pic. Nicely carpeted on the inside & a light & locks nice & tight.

I would like see that Checkmate tonneau, if anyone has picts. I would prefer one that adds very little or nothing to the height of the top of the bed.

Re: Has anyone seen any box covers

the difference of gaylord lids compared to others is the carpet underneath, and the struts. the struts give you side access whereas in other types, the stuts are bolted towards the rear. The "Faulker" way allows the hinge to clamp on you side with no drilling holes. This system works well however, keep your hands clear and the kids away because the lid is heavy and comes down quickly at the last 12 inches. you can pull the strap and it will close by itself, the air pressure prevents it from slamming hard.
