1972 K10 Pictures needed
Hey folks, Being new to the world of classic chevy's I am searching for some photo's of a stock 1972 K10 Stepside. I would like any pictures but need the undercarriage photo's. I need to know how/where original or dual exhaust was routed/hangers etc. Also how/where was a spare tire mounted on the stepsides (if not equipped with the side mount) I also need a shot of the engine bay to include where the stock horns were mounted.
Any stock truck photo's of a 1972 K10 stepside are apppreciated. Thanks Ravenmocker |

No factory dual exhaust in K/10s or any K-model.The spare will mount the same as a Fleetside.
Here`s a GMC with rallyes, but stock other than that.

Re: 1972 K10 Pictures needed
My 72 short stepside 4x4, which I bought new, came originally with single exhaust which I changed to duel years ago. The two exhausts came together somewhere mid-truck and terminated behind the right rear tire in a straight angled-back 2 1/2" dia. pipe, if I remember right. I remember the pipe being suprisingly large in diameter; 2 1/2" I think.
It also originally had a spare tire mounted under the bed in the back of the truck, but I pulled it out years ago to put an extra fuel tank in its place (47 gallons total now). Now my horns, even though they don't work anymore, are still in their original spots. I'll try to take a photo of them tomorrow if that would help. |

Maybe this can help. Pay no attention to the wiring mess.

You didn`t specify long or shortbed.I assume you wanted shortbed.I don`t have any long step K/10s and it`s hard to find a short step that isn`t lifted alot with real big tires. Here are the closest to stock I have:

Re: 1972 K10 Pictures needed
Raven,
Sorry about the pics. I got delayed getting parts and getting my truck back. I took some pics and will send them over in a couple of e-mails to make sure they aren't too big. If you need any close-ups, let me know. Some of the things I did change and so are not stock are: Exhaust changed to dual headers Added CB antenna to cowel Additional rear gas tank where spare tire was newer radio (although I still have old one) speakers cut into doors Added auto trans cooler in front of radiator Added radiator water recovery canister next to radiator. Remember, my truck has been deglected for years and is just now starting to get some attention so It's not too pretty. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with. Gary |
