292 offset mount.
I bought a rotten bodied 64 Chevrolet K10 ( X tractor pull ) that had a 327 Corvette engine in it ( not part of the deal). Then I purchased a 1963 Chevrolet C60 with a 292. I'm using the cab off the 63 to put on the K10 frame and I want to use the 292 running motor. 28,000 miles on it. Truck hasn't made it here yet. Never had a 292 before, never seen the offset mount till I starting searching on this site.
Now, are the mounts the same on a C60 as they are on a C10 or K10? Is there a difference between the C10 and K10 mounts? Does anyone have a picture of the 292 offset mount either C10 or preferably K10?

Re: 292 offset mount.
Hey aero, here's a pic of some I just pulled out of my truck. They were used to hold a SB but the pass side was cobbled on there. See the pic. I believe this to be a 292 mount but hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: 292 offset mount.
So it's the one on the left with the extra hole and the weld along the top. Thank's for the pictures by the way.

Re: 292 offset mount.
Yes, sorry I didnt specify. Yeah it was really hacked in there. I'm assuming thats it as it's really different than the other side. It also has a large bump on the top; kinda frame-rail level.
You can also see how poorly it fit with the sb350.

Re: 292 offset mount.
I see holes in your frame is this where it originally mounted. The offset towards the front or rear?

Re: 292 offset mount.
The holes in the frame are the factory mount locations. The front one has a battery cable in it for a ground. The two holes exposed are the rearward holes.
I dont know where the factory mounted the 292. I've never seen one in a 60-66 truck. This was the po's work.

Re: 292 offset mount.
See the web link below.
IIRC, Looking at protrash's photo's, the mount on the left is the "special" mount that is only used on the passenger side of 292's. The mount on the right is the "normal" and for the drivers side. Non-292 engines use a passenger side mount that is a mirror image of the "normal" one pictured. There are 3 holes in the frame rails. The ''average" bolts to the rear most holes, the "special" bolts in the position furthest forward. This is all because all 230, 250, small blocks have symmetrical mount locations, but the 292 has passenger side mount is moved forward, and fuel pump moved rearward. See: http://www.persh.org/pickup/perches.htm Hope this helps. -Tad

Re: 292 offset mount.
Thanx Tad!! I thought it was a 292 mount but wasn't sure. I knew the rest of the 6's had symmetrical mounting.
