Question 1973 Stepside Brake Cable

Old guy trying to learn about old truck... parking brake cable broke on 1973 Stepside. I have the new cable but can't seem to figure out how to install it. I've tried to find an image, no luck. LMC has a pic that shows several parts, parts that seem to have fallen off. Does anyone have a diagram of how the cable should be run?

Re: 1973 Stepside Brake Cable

LMC does, (sorry for being a smartass)
Actually, on my last truck, LMC pic diagrammed my e-brake setup.

Older models were different than the 80's models. Older ones "split" just under the transmission and a cable ran down each side of the frame rail. Couple "pigtails" hooked into the frame and acted as a guide.

I'm assuming it's the "pigtails" your missing, as they aren't really attached to anything, just kinda hooked into holes and easy to lose.

I don't have another diagram, the LMC one worked for me.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Thanks donut, no problem with the remarks! I have the LMC diagram so I'll try again. It is the "pigtails" that I am missing. Thanks for the hlep,
Ernie

Re: 1973 Stepside Brake Cable

You may be able to source pigtails from a junkyard or the classies. I was going to make mine, just bend up some steel rod, but found one in an old garage being torn down. I was only missing one, so no big deal.

I looked for a pic, but it's on my dead desktop computer.
