How do I get this stupid thing off?
I am trying to take off my dash pad to replace it. I have already ripped the pad off, and I am left with 2 metal straps. They have screws of some sort fastened with a nut made of tin or something like it. The screws are completely flat, flush with everything else. How am I supposed to get these things out?
Thanks...

your goin to have to remove your cluster and your glove box liner there a several speed nuts along the inside of the dash that hold those two remaining strips to the dash a couple in each corner and a few spanning across the dash the screw on the outside will have to come out as well then just pop it off , put the new one in a crank it down, your set !

How much should I tighten them? Won't the pad be warped if I tighten too much?

dont get too crazy with em just snug em down so it doesnt move shake or rattle , I dont think you'll get it tight enough to warp it tho.

I took mine out. I'm not sure if you have to take the cluster out or not though. But, If you haven't taken your cluster apart and cleaned it up you might as well do it while you're putting the dash pad on.

Might want to disconnect the battery while your playing under your dash----trust me----it's better with the juice off when mucking with tools around your wires!!

I say pull the cluster. As simple as it is to get out, and makes it a whole lot easier to get to those little speed nuts for the dash!

I did mine without removing the dash pad, but I did remove the little air vent pieces in the top of the dash. Couldnt seem to get my cluster loose of the dash for whatever reason, so I just used some extensions and it worked out ok. No bloody knuckles or anything.

If you're around 6' you'll probably need to remove a seat or two. It just makes life easier when you can lie on the floor instead of having your legs kicking the headliner just to get a cramp!
