Advise on buying this 67 C10!

Just agreed to purchase a 67 shortbox C10!

This truck has alot of work done to it, which will make a very good start to the project im going for. Truck has been frame off restored, Frame is freshly painted with 3 coats of primer and PPG urathene black. Fresh 10 bolt auburn diff, 3:73s, new axels and seals. 4 wheel disc brake coversion. Fresh TBI 350/rebuilt 700R4. All new tie rods and ball joints, a arms, EVERYTHING ON THIS TRUCK IS NEW! All new metal on truck. Both complete bedsides, tailgate, doors, fenders, core support, cab has been blasted, new rockers and drivers cab corner. Truck is in PPG Primer ready for paint. New seat cover, all gauges. Interior is uncomplete but he has everything to finish it. Also has all grille trim and LOTS of misc parts. Original doors, and the whole original front clip which is in decent shape. LOTS MORE but im tired of typeing. The deal is i pay him 6k, and then i will have it shipped which will be about $700. Is that to much for this truck?

Heres a couple pictures. What do you guys think?

Im a certified auto body technician so i could do it all myself, but all the new metal is the fact i like about this truck

I would be doing the finish prep and painting it myself. How much you think he has in the brake coversion, or any guesses on what he may have in the truck. He told me about 12k

Re: Advise on buying this 67 C10!

That's prob about right, you're prob looking at somewhere about 800-1000 for front brake conversion and maybe a lil less for the rear. All the suspension, sheet metal, wheels, etc etc, he's prob got quite a bit of cash tied up in it. If you're looking for a project, that's a good start.

From what I can see and read, you did well. Price out all that's been done and deduct it from your purchase price...you'll be even happier

This seems like an excellent start, just be careful, I always worry with so many scams out there.

As long as you are happy with your purchase, that is all that matters.

Was this a chopped long bed. Could be the picture and angle but the rear wheels don't look they are sitting in the well quite right.

+1
I thought the same thing... the rear wheels look too far forward in the pics...
Plus it looks like the bed is really up tight against the cab!

I would be SERIOUSLY interested in this truck at $6k but I would see it in person b4 buying it!

Re: Advise on buying this 67 C10!

yep it appears they miss chopped either the frame or the bed/if you try and lower it will bring the rear even further foward// look up into the rear portions of the bedsides betyween the inner and outers and see if there are big ugly welding seams and check the frame rails real good for signs of sectioning and or fishplates or boxing

The boxsidess are brand new, he didnt mention anything about the frame being choped. Although i thought the same thing. I asked him about it and he just said the box is not mounted down, he said it was all welded together and it is square. This is the one thing that was really my deciding factor. Idk what to think. You guys all really think the frame was shorted uneven?

Re: Advise on buying this 67 C10!

Where is this truck located? Why don't you see if a boardmember will go look at it for you? That would answer a lot of questions for you. DO NOT buy a truck with pictures alone, get someone to look at it first. I have looked at a truck for a boardmember that was near me, and a boardmember looked at a truck for me that was in California. Just ask, and someone will check it out for you.

I have over 40 Pictures and ive talked to the guy about everyother day this week and last, he seems like a real nice older guy. He just now sent me pictures of the plate and the numbers on the frame, also along with a bunch more pictures of the frame. I really dont think it has been cut. Obvioulsly its sitting up a little high i just cause there is no weight to the bed right now with no wood in it, He also says there are 2'' drop springs back there that have not settled. With all the pictures i have i am faily confident in my purchase.

If there is anyone from around Monroe GA that would like to go look at it for me that would be great! Just please dont buy it out from under me!

Re: Advise on buying this 67 C10!

i think it is a very risky chance you take/at a minimum you'd need to relocate the rear end then the driveshaft wont work and there maybe a clearance issue with the gastank when you move the rear back

in a crap shoot the house generally wins and you're the playa not the house

The gas tank is not in the way of moving the rear end back. If i post pics of the frame ID can someone run it for me or is there a thread i can look it up in?
