Just from the photo they will work but you will need boots to cover at the "B" pillar. The bracket needs to be flat for the shoulder mount.

Is the pillar mount two bolt or single?

good question.. I'll send pics when they come in.. If they won't work then i'm sure some Camaro guy will pick them back up. Paid $130 so it wasn't that bad of a deal.

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

Here is a photo of a pair of black shoulder belts as well as the installed belts. If you can see it there is a dimple near the bottom of the rubber/plastic boot that will hold the male part of the buckle in it and allow you to store the belt when not in use without banging around in the cab. See photos. The plastic plug is removed and a correct seat-belt bolt must be used that will tighten properly and allow the belt to easily pivot on the bolt shoulder.

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

Hey Dan/Harold- Is this the proper order, and the correct bolt that needs to be used? I have seen where most people have just cut the boot ring. I was looking at it today, scratching my head...I think I got it right.
MSGross- Nice Score! Hopefully this is the right way to install them.

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

I can have them rewebbed if the shoulder belt is "like" the original.. I agree that any dry rotted webbing wouldn't be safe to run and most originals wouldn't survive the tension of a crash due to their age..

Thanks for the pics, I have a feeling that these are for a Camaro but in that case only the shoulder belt would need changed to be correct. For $130 I don't think I could go wrong even if I resell them...

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

Obviously I do not plan to re-use the frayed belt in my pic MSGross...I just want to see if that is the correct order in which to install it.

Scott yes you have the order right. The rubber on the boot acts to protect the paint from scratching the b pillar. Harold

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

anyone have just the shoulder belts for sale still? I think the NOVA/CAMARO belts have two holes for the pillar... verdict is still out on if they will work or not..

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

Mike- The shoulder harnesses are pretty pricey if you can find them. I just posted a thread showing other belts that are very similar that can be used in lieu of originals: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=339651

I still trust an unfrayed nylon web belt.I bet if you could pull a truck with these belts.Does everyone have re-webbed belts but me?

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

Special K- None of mine are re-webbed. I have pulled a fully dressed big block motor using a 40 yr old seatbelt from our trucks as a strap. If it can do that, I am sure it can stop me from going through the windshield.

I'm don't want this to turn into a safety thread but there are a lot of forces involved in a crash. I'm not sure what the restraint criteria are for vehicles but a helicopter is 12G's forward. That's a 250lb guy weighing 3,000 pounds on impact. I'm sure that trucks are lower so maybe that old belt needs to hold 1500 pounds on impact. All on what you feel safe with.

I'll post pics when I get this Nova set in..

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

Mike I think that the belts that are located to the inside next to the row of buckles would be the closest set to use for shoulder belts. As scott stated the bracket must be flattened in order to work with the correct boots- you can do this in a regular vice. I have two sets of shoulder belts and sold the set that scott has to him. They are difficult to get more because of the boots than any other reason. My set in the bb truck was sent out and rewebbed by cheyenne superman as were the lap belts simply because the originals were to faded for what I was trying to accomplish. The second set is in very good shape and I have not messed with them. If you ant to get a true set of these you should look in ambulances as I have seen more sets pulled from them than anything else. I think that member uncle has a set but have not seen him on in a while. You can try Roger Koop in Kansas(koop's parts) (near teeitup), Jerry Brown in Tennessee (truck shop), Gary Terry in Texas (CS-M) any of these people may have a set for sale but you are truly looking for a hard to get piece. If you have any questions ask maybe I can help and if you decide to give the belts you bought a try, I think I still have a set of repop boots I will trade for a tilt column pointer, but as stated earlier they are thin and not exactly as original- they are created to replace corvette boots from early 60's. Good Luck with your search and you might also try member Rod as he might have some info that may be helpful as well. Harold

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

so I found out that these were from a 70 nova... everything will work except for the part where the shoulder belt bolts to the cab, these have two bolts..

Re: 67-72 Seatbelt Guru's, shoulder harness???

I bought some Hoffman belts to install in a 72 stepside (I will make an introduction post later) and the supplied b pillar shoulder bracket bolt is too big. Can anyone tell me the bolt specs? More importantly can anyone tell me where to find that type of information?
