Stock Steel Wheels
Ok!! So I know this is an old topic, but I still need to ask simply because I havent found a concrete answer.
I have a 68 C10 current equipped with all drum brakes. Also, I have the stock 15 6-lug wheels that came with the truck along with the original hubcaps. My goal is to put a good set of disc brakes on the front and rear. However, I want to keep my original wheels or something similar so I can keep my hubcaps. Here is what I know. I know that the pre-71 wheels are 3 bump and dont work with any disc brake conversion. Post-71 wheels are 4 bump and could work with certain conversion kits. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Stock Steel Wheels
Your are correct, you need the four bump. Square body 4x4s had them, too.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels
Ok, I am lost but I have been lost before. His stock 15 inch wheels are 3 bumps so the stock hubcaps fit the 68 wheels. Are you guys saying that he needs post 71 4 bump wheels to go to disc brakes and his hubcaps will also fit?
Anyway, you may be able to use the wheels you have with just a 1 inch spacer. Maybe not. And maybe keep the drums on the back for the good emergency brake you have now.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels
yes, the 71+ K5/10 wheels, which can be quickly identified by the presence of 4 nubs, fit the pre-71 6 lug C/K10 pattern and will also retain the same caps that a 3 nub wheel will retain. The 71+ wheels have a different inner profile that clears a stock size caliper. If you retain the 3 nub on the rear, that's fine, but would be important to ensure your spare is a 4 nub so it will work if you have a flat in the front.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels
If you need pictures let me know. I have 3-sets of these wheels. They are the 71-87 15X8 6-lug steel rims with 4-hubcap nubs. These are the steel wheels that can be used with disc brakes and still take the 10-1/8" hubcap. The '84 - '86 CUCV military Blazers came with those wheels too.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels
Put a set in the for sale area if you want to sell them. This isnt the sales part of the board, and make sure you put a price on them.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels
The optional 16” wheels with 3 nubs will also fit. They’re harder to find, but just in case you stumble upon a set, they will work with disc brakes and hubcaps.
