'70 C-10 World's Quickest Duramax
I don't know if any of you have read the Sept. 07 issue of Diesel Power Magazine but this really caught my eye. The issue featured a bunch of articles about diesel engine swaps with the main one being a Duramax swap into a 1970 C-10 named Orange Crush. The all-steel truck ran a best of 10.38@132 with 1.4-1.5 60 ft. times at the 2007 DHRA Vegas Nationals. I tried to find an article about it on Diesel Power magazine website or on the internet but nothing showed up.
But anyway...here's some photos I managed to find. Enjoy! |

Interesting. There's an article on that website that mentions that the Duramax was too big to fit into the engine bay of this model truck....hmmm.

Re: '70 C-10 World's Quickest Duramax
The Dmax is not a big engine (physically). You would have to get creative with the induction and exhaust, but that is pretty much a given with any turbo-diesel swap.

Re: '70 C-10 World's Quickest Duramax
That`s probably refering to a street driven truck that has a full body.Orange Crush may have the firewall cut or,for that matter, maybe no radiator and a modified core support.
That thing is awesome and it`s an idea I had years ago,but not the money.Anyone with lots of money, let`s talk.I have ideas.

Re: '70 C-10 World's Quickest Duramax
I was there in vegas when it ran. It was pretty cool. Looked at it afterward too. It has like a full tube chassis on top of whats left of the stock on.(if I remember right) Not so sure about the fastest duramax though. THere are some really fast duramax's on dieselplace.com

The articles states that "Chris and Scott's goal is to have the first Duramax-powered truck in the 9s on fuel only." If I can I'll try to scan the article and post it for you guys. |

Re: '70 C-10 World's Quickest Duramax
My daily driver is an 03 2500HD Duramax, so the article really caught my attention.
I do not think it is the fastest duramax, but that is quick. There are a couple of 3/4 ton crew cabs that run in the 10's and are street legal. If I remember the quickest diesel (duramax or not ) is in the 7's.
