Example of A La Carte Ordering

Saw this truck on Facebook MP for sale and on checking it out realized although a Cheyenne in a great color combo someone must have ordered it from the factory with the exact options they wanted. It has been restored pretty much to stock specs. The truck was ordered with Power Brakes but not power steering. Engine upgraded to the 350 but with the no cost base 3 on the tree transmission. Also ordered with leaf springs and the DG4 7 x 10 exterior mirrors so probably did some work over the years before being restored. Strange that with really no power options it was ordered with the Cheyenne Package with 2 tone and full P01 Wheel Covers as well.

Not really relevant to the theme of the post but was 24,500.US as the truck is in South Dakota..

Re: Example of A La Carte Ordering

I remember back then many older guys didn't think the modern conveniences of a car didn't belong on a truck. Or they felt they wouldn't hold up. It looks like either this buyer wanted the comfort and appearance items but not when it came to mechanical. Some were slow to accept power steering and automatic transmissions as reliable truck features. This buyer might have planned to tow something, reason for mirrors and manual trans. I would have gone for the 4spd, though.

It also could be a dealer carefully selecting just enough options for a handsome truck on the lot at a lower cost by omitting typical options you'd expect to see on a Cheyenne.

Definitely odd but pretty neat. The no power steering is strange. I get what Tim is saying but I'd guess the Cheyenne package was more than PS? Or maybe the person ordering it only had so much cash so they got what they absolutely had to have and left off the rest?
